Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to own the automation and MES integration for the Solar Center of Excellence's SPM production line. You will guide equipment commissioning, PLC/MES interfaces, and SOP development to deliver a stable, data‑driven production process.

In this role, you will partner with the NPI Systems Engineer and process/GSE engineers to ensure process capability and sustained improvement as production moves from commissioning to full-rate operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline required.
• 7+ years of experience in process/manufacturing/automation in high-volume production.
• Hands-on PLC programming/integration and MES interfacing experience.
• Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, or control plans for production.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving production equipment or process issues on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Support NPI Systems Engineer in translating system-level requirements into equipment configurations and process parameters.
• Develop and own SOPs and work instructions for the SPM line as equipment arrives and processes are proven.
• Serve as the process engineering counterpart to MES buildout: ensure yield, traceability, and data capture are addressed before go-live.
• Own or support process improvement efforts: root-cause yield loss and equipment/process issues on the floor.
• Partner with equipment vendors and Manufacturing Engineers during on-site commissioning to validate CP against targets.
• Transition from implementation support toward sustaining and process-improvement ownership as production scales.
• Flag production-consequence issues early to influence specs during development.
