Job summary

Sol-Ark Inc. in Allen, Texas, seeks an Application Engineer with deep knowledge of BESS to join the R&D group and support technical sales, system design, and product development for commercial and residential solar projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in solar energy, testing/product support experience, familiarity with UL1741, IEEE 1547, and CAN bus, and strong communication and training skills to educate customers and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems or power electronics.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial and/or residential solar energy.
• Minimum of 2 years of testing and product support of solar and/or energy storage technologies.
• Familiarity with UL 1741, IEEE 1547, UL 9540, UL 9540A, NEC knowledge.
• Strong understanding of Modbus RTU and CAN bus protocols.
• NABCEP certification preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of solar systems, design, and installation.
• Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing industry conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support Technical Sales: assist sales/FAE with technical questions, site assessments, and system design for large projects.
• System Design and Engineering: assist EPC contractors in designing and engineering commercial/industrial solar systems.
• Product Development: collaborate with product and R&D teams to develop and improve solar products and services.
• Product Test: conduct tests of HV inverters, BESS, and produce detailed reports.
• Training and Education: provide training to application engineering, technical support, sales/FAE teams, customers, and partners.
• Industry Research: stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
• Market knowledge: understand emerging application areas to apply renewable energy.
• Customer Support: assist the technical support team with complex inquiries.
• Collaboration: work with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.
• Codes and Regulatory: stay updated on codes and regulatory changes.
• Thought Leadership: represent the company at industry events and publications.
