Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Soils Inspector Senior Coordinator to join our Los Angeles team. The role involves inspecting and documenting construction activities, coordinating on-site efforts across multiple client projects, and ensuring conformance with plans and regulations.

Strong communication and physical stamina are essential. The position requires 5+ years of inspection experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Los Angeles Deputy Grading Inspector license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant construction inspection experience.
• Experience in inspection of concrete, structural steel, masonry, fireproofing, reinforcing steel, and soils.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Hold or have the ability to obtain a Los Angeles Deputy Grading Inspector License.
• Self-motivated with a proven record of accountability.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Read plans, specs and technical specifications.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to walk, stand and climb ladders for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and document project construction activities for conformance to project plans.
• Work at client sites in Los Angeles and Orange County inspecting and assessing construction activities.
• Collect, compile, and analyze data from field activities, surveys, diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Use survey instruments and test equipment to perform basic inspections of site conditions.
• Provide routine technical assistance for inspection of buildings, highways, bridges and infrastructure.
• Verify load calculations, change orders, and contract plan interpretations; escalate issues as needed.
• Attend pre-construction meetings and address contractor questions.
• Assist with calculating payments due to contractors for work performed.
• Ensure adequate equipment and material levels on projects and test results meet standards.
• Generate complete documentation and reports of inspection findings.
