Job summary

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is seeking a Senior Software Test and Quality Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team in Kirkland, WA. This role focuses on validating Azure-based distributed applications, building automated tests, and enhancing our DevOps practices to deliver high-quality software.

You will collaborate with product and SRE teams, champion quality, and drive testing excellence across the SDLC, while embracing a culture without heroes and continuously improving

Qualifications

  • Experience writing and maintaining testing frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience in software testing problems.
  • Experience contributing to successful software releases.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and ability to estimate work.
  • Knowledge of testing principles, best practices, and concepts.
  • Understanding of microservices and distributed applications.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product and IT teams to collaborate on the current solution.
  • Advise on DevOps practices and continuous integration.
  • Develop test strategies and plans for Azure-based distributed apps.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks in CI/CD.
  • Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines and enable continuous testing.
  • Execute tests, analyze results, and document defects clearly.
  • Design and run performance tests to assess responsiveness and resource use.
  • Manage test data privacy and integrity across testing.
  • Set up and maintain test environments mirroring production.
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing processes and coverage.
  • Advocate for quality and provide feedback on code quality and design.
  • Triages defects with developers to ensure timely resolution.

The Role

The Cloud Operations engineering team is seeking a senior software testing engineer. Our teamis responsible forcore functions like login, Member data, member applications, and other self-service capabilities. Our team continually evaluates and improves our processes and drives forward as muchnew technologyas possible. Roles and Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Test and Quality Engineer withexpertisein Azure, CI/CD, test automation, and distributed application testing, you willbe criticalin ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable, andperformantsoftware solutions. Your contributions will be vital inestablishinga strong testing foundation within the DevOps culture, enabling the team to deliver exceptional products that meet the highest quality standards.Cloud Operations is a team, and as such, your primaryfocuseach day is working with other members of your direct and extended team to move our software forward.

  • Work in full partnership with your product and IT (SRE) team members to collaborate on the current solution.
  • Embrace DevOps: Yourexpertisein softwaretestingand DevOps practices willbe vitalin fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous integration, and seamless delivery of high-quality software products.
  • Test Strategy and Planning: Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans, aligned with project requirements and quality goals, with a focus on testing Azure-based distributed applications.
  • Test Automation: Design, develop, andmaintainautomated test scripts and frameworks using industry-standard tools, ensuring efficient and reliable test execution within CI/CD pipelines.
  • CI/CD Integration: Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous testing and early detection of defects.
  • Test Execution and Reporting: Execute test cases, analyze results, and report defects usingappropriate bugtracking systems, providing clear and concise documentation of test outcomes.
  • Performance Testing: Design and execute performance tests to assess the system's response time, throughput, and resourceutilization,identifyingareas for optimization and improvement.
  • Test Data Management: Develop strategies for managing test data and ensureits privacyand integrity throughout the testing process.
  • Test Environment Management: Work with DevOps teams to set up andmaintaintest environments that mirror production environments foraccuratetesting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, exploring new tools and techniques to enhance test automation and overall test coverage.
  • Quality Advocacy: Championa culture of quality throughout the development process, providing valuable feedback on code quality, design, and testability.
  • Defect Management: Collaborate with the development team to triage and prioritize defects, ensuringtimelyresolution and preventing reoccurrence.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Mentor junior team members and share knowledge and best practices to promote the growth and skill development of the testing team.
Skills and Requirements

As a Senior SoftwareTesting and QualityEngineer, your highproficiencyin thefollowingareas will be instrumental insuccessfully deliveringcomplex software projects. You willbe pivotalin shaping software solutions, collaborating with the team, and ensuring the highestcode quality and performance standards.

  • Understanding of agilemethodologyand ability to break down and estimate new work
  • Excellentknowledgeof softwaretestingprinciples, bestpractices,and concepts

  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiencyin one or more programming languages
  • Must have experience working with Git source control
  • Musthavegreat analytical, problem solving and debugging skills withtheability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Passion for learning new tools and technologies
Preferred Qualifications (not mandatory, but desirable):
  • Comfortable working with complex applications
  • Understanding and experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
  • Experience working in Agile development environments,participatinginsprintsand adapting to iterative development cycles.
