Shield AI is seeking a Software Systems Test Engineer to lead integration testing for our aircraft software system. You will oversee system-level verification and validation, design comprehensive test scenarios, and ensure rigorous testing before full system integration.

The role directly impacts aircraft reliability and field performance. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in testing complex software, strong test automation experience, and proficiency in Python or C++.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of work experience in testing complex integrated software systems.
• Expertise in test automation, minimally writing software to automate testing, preferably using simulation for automated integration testing.
• Strong experience with the software product development lifecycle, ideally for autonomy or vehicle systems.
• Understanding of system architecture, requirement derivation, and test planning across the V-model.
• Experience automating test cases in an existing test framework.
• Experience producing high-quality technical documentation, including test plans, QA reports, and procedures.
• Proven track record of shipping products in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Generate detailed mission test scenarios to validate autonomy and flight control software.
• Participate in design reviews for new features and create detailed test plans from requirements.
• Conduct and manage system verification and validation events to achieve flight readiness.
• Write test analyzers in Python to report and benchmark performance and qualification metrics.
• Produce test coverage and release-readiness reports by aggregating test cases and results.
• Recommend improvements to simulation models and fault injection for advancing the test suite prior to flight.
