Job summary

Helen of Troy seeks a hands-on Senior Software Systems Engineer to lead development across embedded firmware, mobile apps, and cloud services for connected consumer and medical products. You will own technical execution across multiple software domains, collaborating with firmware, mobile, cloud, QA, and regulatory teams to ship robust products.

You will drive architecture discussions, refine requirements, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners, applying strong systems thinking

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong systems-level thinking and debugging skills
• Experience working with embedded systems or connected devices
• Experience across firmware, mobile, backend, APIs, cloud, etc. and understanding hardware/software interactions
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical problems
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical execution for connected product software programs
• Work across embedded firmware, mobile apps, cloud services, and backend integrations
• Participate in software architecture and system design discussions
• Define and refine software requirements, workflows, and feature behavior
• Coordinate technical activities across internal teams and external development partners
• Review software designs, implementation approaches, and technical tradeoffs
• Support software verification, validation, and release readiness activities
• Investigate and help resolve complex cross-functional technical issues
• Maintain technical consistency across multiple products and software platforms
• Contribute hands-on technical work including prototyping, debugging, scripting, and implementation support
• Assist with software lifecycle documentation and regulated development processes for connected medical products
• Help identify technical risks early and drive issues to closure
