Senior Software QA/Application Tester- Senior

F&A Technologies LLC is seeking a Senior Software Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist / Application Tester to support the Kodiak program in the Herndon, Virginia area. The selected candidate will join a small test team responsible for supporting multiple software applications at various stages of deployment, ranging from emerging technologies to legacy systems.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with modern automated testing methodologies and technologies, along with strong software development and coding skills. This role will focus primarily on developing and executing automated tests while also performing manual testing when automation is impractical or not desirable.
As the technology environment continues to evolve, the Senior Application Tester may also collaborate closely with application developers to support performance and load testing. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a constantly changing environment and will bring strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills to evaluate applications, identify potential vulnerabilities and failure conditions, and ensure software meets established requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute automated software tests for multiple applications and technology platforms.
- Develop automated testing solutions using Java and Selenium WebDriver.
- Perform manual testing when automated testing is impractical, inefficient, or otherwise not desirable.
- Evaluate developer assignments and independently interpret application requirements to determine appropriate testing strategies.
- Engineer comprehensive tests designed to validate expected functionality while also identifying potential failure conditions and edge cases.
- Develop and maintain automated test code using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), such as IntelliJ, Eclipse, or NetBeans.
- Develop and execute SQL queries to validate application and database data using platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Create, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, test procedures, test scripts, and test scenarios.
- Conduct functional, regression, integration, and other applicable testing activities.
- Support performance and load testing in coordination with application developers as required.
- Utilize testing tools such as Selenium and JMeter to conduct comprehensive application testing.
- Work within Linux environments and utilize tools and technologies such as Bash scripting and vi.
- Ensure QA and testing approaches incorporate known vulnerabilities, security considerations, and industry best practices.
- Conduct testing using repeatable, documented processes based on established industry best practices.
- Document, track, and report test results, defects, issues, and recommendations.
- Maintain and update test environments to support ongoing testing activities.
- Collaborate with software developers, testers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, automation frameworks, and testing methodologies.
- Perform additional testing and QA duties as required to support mission objectives.
Required Qualifications
- TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph required on Day One.
- Demonstrated experience developing automated testing solutions, with an emphasis on writing code rather than relying solely on record-and-play or click-and-record testing.
- Expert-level experience with Selenium WebDriver.
- Strong programming and development skills, particularly with Java.
- Experience writing and executing SQL queries for data validation.
- Experience with one or more relational database technologies, including:
- Experience using an IDE for software development, such as:
- IntelliJ IDEA
- Eclipse
- NetBeans
- Experience working in a Linux environment, including familiarity with Bash scripting and vi.
- Extensive experience developing test plans, test cases, test procedures, test scripts, and test scenarios.
- Demonstrated experience with both manual and automated software testing processes.
- Hands-on experience with testing tools such as Selenium and/or JMeter.
- Ability to independently understand software requirements and develop appropriate testing strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential failure conditions and edge cases.
- Ability to work effectively in a constantly evolving technical environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with developers and other technical team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to document and report testing activities and results clearly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting software applications within the Intelligence Community or federal government.
- Experience developing automated testing frameworks or automation infrastructure.
- Experience with performance and load testing.
- Experience working with emerging technologies as well as legacy applications.
- Experience integrating security vulnerabilities and secure software development practices into QA and testing methodologies.
- Experience troubleshooting complex application and testing issues in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with Agile software development and testing methodologies.
This is a full-time position supporting the Kodiak program in the Herndon, Virginia area. The position requires a TS/SCI with Polygraph.
