Job summary

EDI Staffing's client in New Jersey seeks a Software Development Manager - Modernization. This hybrid role in Collingswood leads two engineering teams to modernize a warehouse management platform using a Java/Spring/Hibernate monolith toward API-first microservices on Azure.

You will guide architecture discussions, code reviews, and delivery tradeoffs, partnering with Architecture, Platform, SRE, QA, Product, and business stakeholders while managing hiring, performance, and roadmap execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree preferable for advanced architecture roles.
• Proven experience leading modernization from monolith to microservices.
• Strong Java expertise with Spring and Hibernate.
• Experience with Azure cloud and enterprise architectures.

Responsibilities

• Manage two engineering teams of approximately 3-6 engineers each.
• Build and staff the new internal team and define hiring bar.
• Lead delivery performance for both teams and establish KRIs.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Own roadmap execution, technical quality, and production readiness.
• Champion standards for architecture, observability, and reliability.
• Communicate decisions, risks, and resource needs to leadership.
• Drive alignment across Architecture, Platform, QA, and Product.
