Job summary

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Summary

The Ash Group is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer (24675) for our client, a global leader providing advanced systems and support in defense, aerospace, and security. This is a 12-month contract position working in Sterling Heights, MI (Onsite). We are offering a pay rate up to $58/hr W2 based on skill set and location.

• Compensation: Up to $58/hr W2 based on skill set

What You’ll Be Doing

• Integrates and tests software applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and hardware components on a combat vehicle system
• Applies knowledge of Ethernet and CAN bus within software applications or tools to test and troubleshoot problems
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering and vehicle test teams to investigate reported issues and analyze collected data
• Mentors less experienced software engineers to develop their software integration and test, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ensures that technical approach is consistent with established engineering principles and practices
• Ensures that product outcomes meet customer needs and that customer and company technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements are met

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in STEM field is a must
• Minimum of 4 years of embedded real-time software integration experience
• Integration of software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux: Packaging software as RPMs and binary executables and Drivers, shared objects, and static libraries
• Integration and testing of software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating Systems
• Ability to build and maintain a software and hardware integration testbed
• Understanding of Ethernet and CAN bus protocols
• Git and Jira/Gitlab Configuration Management tools
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are a MUST
• Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines
• Ability to apply critical thinking to solve technical design and development problems
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to solve technical problems
• Ability to travel to the customer site
• Ability to work on combat vehicles systems
• Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance
