Job summary

Textron Systems in Massachusetts is seeking a Software Engineer Manager to lead the Munitions software group within the Weapons division. You will oversee staffing, mentor engineers, and drive architecture reviews and delivery quality across projects.

The role emphasizes embedded/software engineering processes, Agile methods, and model-based practices, with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration across stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with minimum 10 years of experience, or Master’s degree with minimum 8 years.
• Strong knowledge of embedded and application software engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methods and tools.
• Understanding of Model-Based Engineering practices.
• Experience with process improvement methodologies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all Software Engineers within the Munitions group in the Textron Systems Weapons division.
• Ensure staffing levels for Software Engineers, including full-time employees, co-ops, interns, and contractors; forecast needs to meet program requirements.
• Drive software engineer development and engagement through performance management, regular communication, and mentoring.
• Review and approve software architecture and requirements development.
• Ensure deliverables meet internal quality and customer requirements.
• Monitor and improve departmental performance through analysis of quality metrics and stakeholder feedback.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align with organizational goals.
