The Core Shopping and Experience team owns the core shopping experience: product details, shopping cart, transaction experience, and after-sales support. We drive a smooth journey for millions of users from product discovery through after-sales, building trust between users, sellers, and the platform.

You will build and improve the core shopping systems every buyer and seller depends on, shaping every transaction and interaction from discovery through after-sales.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead a backend, frontend, and full-stack engineering team responsible for building critical commerce capabilities that support customer trust, transaction reliability, and post-purchase experiences. This leader will help define the technical vision, drive execution across cross-functional teams, and build highly available distributed systems that operate at global scale.

Responsibilities

• As a senior leader, you will own a major line of business within the Global E-commerce team, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to define strategy and shape the product and technology roadmap.


• You will oversee system architecture and ensure engineering excellence across the core shopping business domain, driving technical decisions and maintaining high-quality standards.


• You will coach and develop engineers and tech leads, fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and high performance.


• Own the architecture and delivery of large-scale backend services supporting critical customer-facing shopping experiences.


• Design and build highly available distributed systems that power high-volume online transactions and post-purchase customer journeys.


• Drive technical direction for systems that prioritize reliability, performance, scalability, and customer trust.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering management experience leading backend teams responsible for mission-critical online services with high availability and low latency.


• Around 5 years or more of e-commerce experience developing customer-facing commerce payments and logistics experiences such as checkout, order management, payments, returns, refunds, customer accounts, notifications, or post-purchase services.


• Data-driven mindset and comfort working with business and operational metrics.


• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse, global teams..

Preferred Qualification

• High emotional intelligence, with the ability to handle conflicts, foster collaboration, and influence outcomes in ambiguous situations.


• Prior experience working with distributed teams across multiple time zones.


• Passion for building products that directly impact millions of end users.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $308000 - $588000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
