Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team responsible for avionics real-time embedded software and DO-178C certified life-cycle activities.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and coordination across engineering and manufacturing to meet schedules and customer requirements; some travel to customers and international trips up to 10% of time may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related engineering field with 7+ years in aerospace software.
• At least 4 years of DO-178C certification experience.
• 4+ years leading avionics real-time embedded software teams using C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Train, instruct, and provide technical guidance to employees to diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.
• Interface with functional departments in preparing work schedules to ensure coordination of activities.
• Develop budgets and estimates for labor and material costs to ensure effectiveness of software engineering activities.
• Establish procedures for addressing problems and make recommendations to management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of software engineering activities.
• Assign work and ensure that completed work meets established engineering and manufacturing schedules and satisfies customer requirements.
• Supervise 10 reports including Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering; Principal Engineer, Software Engineering; and Engineer II, Software Engineering.
