Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Leader in Seattle to drive software, data, and architecture practices across a multi-functional team. You will organize Agile processes, set goals and metrics, and partner with product management to align quarterly objectives with business outcomes.

You will hire and develop engineers, guide roadmaps for space-vehicle software, and collaborate with design, manufacturing, and flight ops to simplify systems and improve operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of proven experience running and leading software development teams.
• 5+ years of experience developing and deploying sophisticated production systems.
• Solid understanding of the software engineering lifecycle including coding standards, configuration management, deployment, testing, and operations.
• Ability to learn and understand the details of any technical component as well as drive the overall systems architecture.
• A track record of delivering technical roadmaps by defining a clear vision of desired business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering, data, and architecture practices and standards within a multi-functional team.
• Organize Agile practices including sprint planning and backlog grooming.
• Establish goals and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Hire and develop software engineers with development goals and motivation.
• Work with product managers and business partners to set quarterly objectives and key results.
• Manage an internal roadmap to support quality and configuration management of space vehicles.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and flight operations to identify improvement opportunities.
• Challenge the status quo and improve tools and standards for development and operation.
