Job summary

AT&T is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Plano, TX to design, develop, test, and document scalable software solutions. You will collaborate with architects and DevOps to ensure high quality, secure, and maintainable applications leveraging Java/J2EE, Spring, microservices, and cloud tech.

You will mentor teammates, participate in reviews, and help define technical roadmaps while focusing on performance and availability in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, plus 3 years of related experience
• Experience designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software components
• Proven ability to mentor teams, perform code/document reviews, and ensure scalability, security, and availability

DUTIES

Design, code, test, debug, and document new and existing components to ensure that software meets business, quality, and operational needs. Align development teams to a shared technical direction and partners with those teams in elaborating the solution and its interfaces. Work with portfolio stakeholders, solution and enterprise architects, to develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of enablers. Build high quality code following unit testing and test-driven development. Establish critical NFRs at the solution level, participate in the definition of others, drive and participate in code and document reviews, and mentor team in best practices. Collaborate with peer organizations, dev ops, support organizations on technical issues and provide guidance. Interpret and translate business needs to technical requirements and accurate estimates. Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality and performance is achieved. Work with team to troubleshoot code level problems. Apply deep technical expertise to resolve challenging programming and design problems. Focus on scalability, security and availability of all applications and processes. Contribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software. Contribute to technical roadmap and technical debt elimination, balancing time, resource, and quality constraints to achieve business and strategic goals and requirement. REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, and 3 years of experience in the job offered, or 3 years of experience in a related occupation designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting new and existing components to ensure that software meets business, quality, and operational needs; building high quality code following unit testing and test-driven development; establishing critical NFRs at the solution level, participate in the definition of others, drive and participate in code and document reviews, and mentoring team in best practices; focusing on scalability, security and availability of all applications and processes; contributing to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software; contributing to technical roadmap and technical debt elimination, balancing time, resource, and quality constraints to achieve business and strategic goals and requirement; and utilizing the following software and technologies: JAVA/J2EE, JDBC, XML, XSD, Log4J, JSON, Web services, Spring, Spring Web Service, Spring boot, Micro services, SOAP, RESTful, JMS, Kafka, Cassandra, Grafana, GraphQL, JUnit, Groovy, Redis, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Dynatrace, Quantum Metric, Tomcat, and Microsoft Azure.
