Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to shape our AI-powered lending platform. You’ll collaborate with Product, Pricing, Analytics, Lending Partnerships, and Capital Marketplace to build scalable, reliable systems powering investor and partner workflows.

You’ll design and implement APIs, services, and UIs, contribute to cloud-native deployments, and help ensure security, performance, and availability across critical platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience focused on full-stack, distributed systems, and APIs.
• Proficiency with APIs, services, and UIs enabling partner access to data and controls.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js, Vercel, Python or similar languages.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver projects that align with business goals
• Design, develop, and maintain self-service tools that enhance the investor experience
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and build solutions that improve business workflows
• Develop scalable, reliable systems that meet the needs of both internal users and external investors
• Ensure security, performance, and availability of our critical platforms
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and the deployment of high-quality code
