Job summary

MISUMI Americas is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale backend services powering an AI-driven manufacturing platform. The role focuses on costing, pricing, lead time, and DFM for instant quoting, with an emphasis on reliability and AI-driven development.

Location is West Coast-based with remote eligibility; final-round in-person interviews will be held in Oakland or Portland. You will collaborate across product, frontend, and infrastructure teams while shaping AI-driven

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficient in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS services (SQS, Lambda, EC2, RDS).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Commitment to unit and integration tests.
• Knowledge of security best practices (OWASP Top 10).
• Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).
• Strong code review skills.

You’ll join the team that owns costing, pricing, lead time, and DFM (design for manufacturability) for our instant quoting platform. When a customer uploads a part, our systems decide what it costs, when it ships, and whether it can be made. Accuracy matters; our output directly drives revenue and customer trust.

We build with AI agents as a core part of how we work. We’re looking for strong engineers who use agents to plan, implement, and test faster, and who have the judgment to know when the output is wrong.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop highly available, scalable backend services in AWS

What You Bring

• 5 + years of backend engineering experience
• Strong skills in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience building systems on AWS (SQS, Lambda, EC2, RDS, etc.)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases
• A commitment to writing unit and integration tests
• Knowledge of system design, caching, and security best practices (OWASP Top 10)
• Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot agent mode), with clear examples of where you had to step in, correct, or override them
• Strong code review skills, applied just as rigorously to AI-generated changes
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder)

Nice to have:

• AWS certification
• Experience with high-scale or business-critical systems
• Experience with pricing, quoting, or other numerically sensitive business logic
• Experience building agent workflows, custom tools, or MCP integrations for your team
