Job summary

MISUMI Americas is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help design and scale the cloud-based digital manufacturing platform. You will own backend services in AWS, build event-driven systems with Node.js, and create robust REST/GraphQL APIs for global customers.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in backend engineering, strong distributed systems knowledge, and experience with AI coding agents to accelerate development while maintaining code quality and security.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend engineering experience.
• Distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• A commitment to writing unit and integration tests.
• Knowledge of system design, caching, and security best practices (OWASP Top 10).
• Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot agent mode).
• Strong code review skills, applied just as rigorously to AI-generated changes.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
• Nice to have: AWS certification; experience with high-scale or business-critical systems; experience with pricing/quoting or agent workflows.

You’ll join the team that owns costing, pricing, lead time, and DFM (design for manufacturability) for our instant quoting platform. When a customer uploads a part, our systems decide what it costs, when it ships, and whether it can be made. Accuracy matters; our output directly drives revenue and customer trust.

We build with AI agents as a core part of how we work. We're looking for strong engineers who use agents to plan, implement, and test faster, and who have the judgment to know when the output is wrong.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll help build and scale the systems running our global manufacturing ecosystem:

What You Bring

• 5 + years of backend engineering experience
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases
• A commitment to writing unit and integration tests
• Knowledge of system design, caching, and security best practices (OWASP Top 10)
• Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot agent mode), with clear examples of where you had to step in, correct, or override them
• Strong code review skills, applied just as rigorously to AI-generated changes
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder)

Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience
