We are seeking an expert Python developer to work within the Video Delivery and Experience squad, specializing in multi-CDN configuration, orchestration, traffic steering, and observability. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in modern Python concepts, experience with distributed systems and async processing, familiarity with cloud environments, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Exposure to CDN or streaming video is a plus. The work involves developing next-generation multi-CDN orchestration products to support live events and VOD brands like Paramount+ and CBS.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality, modern, modular Python code
• Design and implement APIs for data integration across remote systems, handling failures gracefully
• Write and review pull requests, ensuring code quality, testing, typing, and documentation
• Build observable systems with logging, monitoring, and alerting

Required Technical Skills

• Expertise in maintainable, modular Python code
• Understanding of async Python patterns, including asyncio, threading, and multiprocessing; knowledge of Celery is a plus
• Experience with Python annotations, type hints, and module structuring
• Ability to write and review unit tests (pytest)
• Knowledge of fundamental development constructs like locking, mutability, and scoping
• Proficiency in SQL queries
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, HTTP, and networking concepts

Tooling & Ecosystem

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, OCI)
• Experience building REST APIs, preferably with FastAPI and Celery

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of Go or Rust
• Understanding of CDN and MultiCDN architectures
• Knowledge of ABR streaming concepts
• Experience building observable systems and API orchestration in multi-CDN environments
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
• Experience with distributed systems and fault-tolerant architecture design

Paramount+ offers a streaming service with live sports, news, and entertainment, featuring content from major brands and exclusive sports rights.

Salary Range: $124,000 - $170,000. Compensation depends on location, experience, and other factors. Benefits include health coverage, 401(k), life insurance, disability benefits, tuition assistance, and PTO. The position is bonus eligible.
