Via is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Remix team in San Francisco to own optimization features end-to-end, from concept to production. You’ll work on planning/scheduling products, backend optimization systems, and data-driven transit solutions used by major networks.

You will collaborate with designers, data scientists, planners, and customers, leveraging Python, Ruby, TypeScript, and React, while prioritizing robust engineering, scalability, and user-centric design.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Built and scaled a computationally hard system in production (e.g., optimization, routing, search, simulation, or geospatial processing).
• Experience with operations research, mathematical optimization, or applied machine learning is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Improve planning and scheduling products to help planners explore concepts and make data-driven decisions.
• Build, scale, and improve optimization and backend systems for production.
• Collaborate with designers, data scientists, researchers, product managers, planners, schedulers, and customers.
• Work with technologies across the stack to deliver end-to-end user experience.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and architecture discussions.
• Build and maintain processes and tools to keep productivity and code quality high.
