Cardinal Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to provide technical leadership and hands-on development for complex enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud-native platforms. You will partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and Delivery teams to drive secure, scalable solutions across multiple workstreams.

The role requires 8–12 years of experience in Java/Spring Boot, REST, and microservices, with cloud, Kubernetes, and CI/CD expertise.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience, preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices Architecture, React and/or Angular.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms including Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
• Strong experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred), Cloud-native app development, Container orchestration, IaC.
• Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Concourse, ArgoCD, Terraform.
• Hands-on experience with API Management and integration platforms such as Apigee & other enterprise platforms.
• Strong understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, API Security, Auth models.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Relational/NoSQL databases, data integration/analytics.
• OpenAPI/Swagger, API lifecycle management, automated testing, observability.
• Experience in regulated environments (healthcare, pharmacy, financial services).
• HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST, SSDLC, risk/compliance controls.
• Cloud migration and modernization initiatives experience.
• Building enterprise integration platforms and API ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise apps, APIs, integrations, and cloud-native solutions.
• Own end-to-end technical delivery across multiple workstreams for scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Define and drive architecture, standards, patterns, and best practices across teams.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and guide implementations.
• Lead technical planning, estimation, and architecture reviews for initiatives.
• Drive design decisions balancing objectives, debt, performance, cost, and risk.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers and partners.
• Escalation point for complex challenges, production incidents, and architecture decisions.
• Lead root cause analysis and preventive measures to improve stability.
• Review designs, code, infra, and deployment strategies for quality and compliance.
• Promote DevSecOps, CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, observability.
• Collaborate with EA, Security, Risk, Compliance, Platform Eng to secure solutions.
• Evaluate emerging tech and recommend innovative solutions for business value.
• Design and implement API integrations using APIs, event-driven architectures, platforms.
• Provide end-to-end oversight across apps, integrations, data, security, and ops.
• Establish roadmaps and opportunities for modernization and automation.
• Ensure ops excellence: monitoring, HA/DR, performance, supportability.
• Influence strategy across products and teams.
• Lead tech discussions with stakeholders, vendors, architects, leadership.
• Define milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and mitigations.
• Foster engineering excellence, accountability, innovation, and learning.
