Job summary

Lincoln Financial Group seeks an experienced engineering leader to own the technical direction for a portfolio of customer-facing applications, set architecture decisions, and ensure a healthy codebase as features ship.

You will lead a team of mid-level and junior engineers, mentor through code reviews and design docs, establish AI tooling standards, partner with product, design, compliance and security, and participate in hiring to strengthen the team. Hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering, with senior lead or principal experience.
• Deep backend expertise in Java and Spring; production services ownership.
• Experience with AWS, containerized deployment, and cloud-native design.
• Practical fluency with AI development tools and the human-in-the-loop.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction for a portfolio of customer-facing applications.
• Lead a team of mid-level and junior engineers day to day.
• Grow engineers through code reviews, design docs, and pairing on problems.
• Set standards for AI-assisted development and code review practices.
• Partner with product, design, compliance, and security.
• Represent engineering in planning and prioritization and hiring.
