Job summary

SEACORP seeks a Senior Software Engineer / Task Manager in Newport, RI to lead a small software team supporting the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. You will develop in C/C++, Java, Python and Qt/PyQt while coordinating tasks and priorities with customers and stakeholders.

The role involves architecture work, code reviews, and ensuring secure lab operations, with mentoring and pairing programming to uphold coding standards within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or SE required.
• 10+ years of experience with C/C++, Java, and/or Python.
• Ideal: Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Support integration, troubleshooting, and issue resolution in a secure lab environment.
• Engage in Atlassian‑suite activities such as providing comments in JIRA, performing code reviews in Bitbucket, sharing documentation in Confluence, and adding/analyzing test results in Bamboo.
• Embrace a team culture of mentoring, often including paired programming and discussions on development approaches, testing, and coding standards.

SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Senior Software Engineer / Task Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

SEACORP's Virginia / Ohio Replacement Business Area is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer for its Middletown, RI location to support the Weapons Analysis Facility at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center.

Responsibilities

• Develop software primarily in C/C++, Java, Python, and Qt / PyQt.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical leadership for a small software development team.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree related to Computer Science or Software Engineering is required. Master’s degree is ideal.

Experience: 10+ years of work experience with C/C++, Java, and/or Python programming is required.

The ideal candidate would also have experience with one or more of the following, in order of project needs:

• Design patterns
• Qt Toolkit, using either C++ or PyQt
• Agile development process and Atlassian suite of tools
• Modeling / Simulation
• Torpedo / Submarine systems
• Real-Time Systems

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
