Responsibilities

The Renter Solutions department seeks an Engineer 2 to join our Product Health technical team. The team manages driver and loyalty profile data for EM customers, ensuring secure access for other services, solutions, and third-party vendors. You will be part of a full Java stack and data engineering support team, including analysts, engineers, and technical leaders, supporting applications and services related to Renter and Loyalty capabilities, using technologies such as RESTful APIs, AWS Cloud, React, Oracle, and Teradata.

As an Engineer 2 – Software, you will leverage your technical knowledge to solve business problems, serve as a subject matter expert, and handle complex assignments. This hybrid role involves backend software development and data engineering to build scalable, high-performance systems powering our data-driven platforms. You will evaluate technology effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research, and analysis, making recommendations for improvements to enhance quality and effectiveness. Listening to and assessing customer needs to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with expectations is essential.

Qualifications

Required:

• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
• Reside in the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii)
• Available to work within U.S. Central Standard Time core hours
• Committed to security in all decisions and responsibilities
• At least 3 years’ experience in Java software development
• At least 3 years’ experience with relational databases
• Proficiency in Teradata SQL and Oracle SQL, including complex queries and stored procedures
• Ability to optimize SQL queries for performance and scalability
• Experience with Java 8 or higher
• Rest API development experience
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience across full software development lifecycle
• Proficient with Windows/Unix operating systems
• Knowledge of web services and service-oriented architecture
• Experience with application servers such as WebLogic and Tomcat
• Effective communication skills across technical and management levels
• Ability to collaborate and take responsibility for tasks and projects
• Commitment to security in all job aspects

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Jest, Karma, Jasmine, or Struts 2.0
• Knowledge of Java frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, XML Beans
