Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in Plano, Texas is seeking a Software Engineer III SQL Server Database Engineer to design, build, and modernize trusted data-driven applications within the Consumer & Community Banking division. Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools with evaluation for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Experience working as database engineering for SQL Server, Aurora Postgres, CockroachDB and experience with AWS and/or Azure
• Experience supporting databases in DevOps and proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline
• Demonstrable experience performing database upgrades and migrations

Responsibilities

• Executes software solutions, design, development, and troubleshooting with ability to tackle non-routine problems
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains database-related algorithms
• Leverages enterprise AI coding tools to improve code quality, speed, and productivity with peer review and secure coding standards
• Applies SDLC tools and AI-assisted development to enhance automation value
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensures design constraints are met
• Gathers and analyzes data to develop visualizations and reporting for improvement of software
• Identifies data patterns to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture
• Partners with PaaS/DBaaS/Cloud Delivery teams to enable self-service capabilities for AD teams
• Participates in database modernization planning and development of modernization patterns
• Provides direct support for database modernization activities to development teams
• Supports AD teams in DB design and production issue troubleshooting and root cause analysis
