Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Simulation Software Engineer in Irving, TX to shape autonomous construction site solutions. You will develop the simulation stack, render 3D objects, and collaborate with robotic and Cloud teams to deliver scalable software.

The role emphasizes full-stack development, strong backend expertise, and experience with AI/ simulation platforms in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on backend coding in Java or Node.js.
• 3+ years frontend coding in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• 3+ years with Angular, React/Next.js.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of Python.
• Experience with Nvidia Omniverse or similar simulation platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop the simulation software stack (full stack).
• Write high-quality software and participate in code reviews.

What you will do:

• Participate in the development of the simulation Software stack- full stack
• Write high quality software, follow best practices and participate in code review
• Work collaboratively with your peers
• Onboard other peers
• Participate in writing software design and requirements discussions
• Work tightly with the Robotic team and any other team, aligning their needs with your implementation, reducing gaps and deviations, while focussing on Quality and Value
• Improve and Maintain CI/CD
• Participate actively in brainstorming and ideation sessions

Required Experience of building simulation and rendering platforms

• Experience in 3D object rendering and manipulation
• Experience with mapping technology (Like GIS, Terrain mapping, OpenLayers)
• Experience in leveraging web graphic / animation standard library
• Advance knowledge of designing, building and using open source, publish data and APIs (like graphQL)
• Experience in designing, publishing and maintaining DB schema (SQL, NoSQL)
• Experience with best practices and processes for engineering team
• Experience with AI coding tool (like Claude, Copilot, Cursor)
• Experience with Cloud Platform such as AWS (Preferred), Azure, Google cloud / Firebase
• Experience with web automation tooling and deploying on CI/CD (Like WebPack, ESLint, Playright)

G22 Top Candidate:

• 5+ years of experience hands on coding backend in coding language such as Java or Node.Js
• 3+ years of experience hands on coding frontend in coding language such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• 3+ years of experience hands on coding with Framework such as Angular, React/NextJs
• Experience with agile methodology
• Good knowledge of Python
• Experience with Nvidia Omniverse or other Simulation Platform

Summary

Pay Range: $112,710.00 - $183,140.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
