Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Custom Government Engineering Team in the United States. You will design, deploy, and evolve secure government network platforms, leading cross-functional teams in CI/CD and secure software delivery.

You will work with Linux/Unix, Python or Perl, Docker, NoSQL, cloud storage, and networking, ensuring robust, scalable solutions while following Zero Trust and PKI standards. Eligible for security clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering or cloud platforms.
• Strong Linux/Unix administration, configuration and debugging skills.
• Proficient in Python or Perl scripting.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins.
• Hands-on with Docker, NoSQL databases, cloud storage and networking.
• Familiar with Zero Trust Architecture, PKI, security patching and system security.
• US Citizenship required; eligible for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Managing CI/CD pipelines, enhancing software tools, and developing robust testing frameworks.
• Leading technical initiatives and owning design, deployment, and evolution of custom government network platforms.
• Designing and developing next-generation capabilities for custom platform services.
• Guiding code reviews, applying security patches, and improving delivery and performance.
• Collaborating across teams to manage SDLC release cycles with Agile practices and AI-assisted workflows.
• Partnering with Operations, Engineering, and SRE to investigate and troubleshoot complex issues.
