Job summary

CareFirst, Inc. is seeking a software engineer to perform complex design, development, testing, and debugging across enterprise systems.

You will work with stakeholders to define system scope, establish baselines and deliver large-scale software solutions for thousands of users. The role requires 5 years of development experience, strong knowledge of SDLC, cloud technologies, and CI/CD practices, plus the ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to product roadmaps and architecture

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience.
• 5 years experience with software development, basic coding and compilation, software architecture/design, user requirements definition and software specification development.
• Ability to communicate technical requirements to all levels of expertise.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of database technologies (e.g. cloud, SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Fundamental knowledge of software engineers' best practices, agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical detail design, coding, testing of applications and serve as SME for discussions related to maintaining/enhancing existing software systems.
• Develop and/or analyze interface design documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
• Mentor junior software engineers and assist in estimation of feature development.
• Provide direct technical support for high level, high visibility and critical trouble calls for supported applications and work with cross functional teams to build reliable software.
