Job summary

Waystar is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute across the Aware platform, building scalable, resilient solutions using VueJS, NodeJS and Java on AWS. You will join a collaborative team that tackles complex healthcare problems with modern web and backend services.

You will participate in design discussions, maintain high engineering standards, and own parts of the delivery stack with minimal supervision, while communicating effectively with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related area.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and system design for scalable web apps and backend services.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices (version control, testing, CI).
• Experience with Java, Spring, NodeJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and at least one modern frontend framework.

You’ll be challenged often and will find yourself working on all areas of the application domain across the full app delivery stack.

Design and implement highly resilient, scalable, and performant solutions that solve complex healthcare problems using VueJS, NodeJS, Java, AWS and more.

Participate in technical and product discussions with leaders across our engineering, product, and business teams.

Self-reliance, without supervision, while showcasing best design/communication/solution practices in daily works.

Ensure continuously improve our standard of engineering excellence

What You’ll Do

• BS in Computer Science or related area
• 7 + years of software development experience.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and system design building scalable web applications and backend services
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, such as version control, testing, and continuous integration

• Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership; proactively identifies opportunities, takes initiative without being asked, and follows through with persistence

What You’ll Need

• Preferred Requirements: Experience with generative AI, machine learning, and predictive algorithms Familiarity with statistics and healthcare domain Expertise with distributed event streaming platforms like Kafka Experience with data pipeline technologies
