Job summary

Remedy Scientific Inc. in Oakland, CA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build Remedy's core product systems.

This backend-focused full-stack role emphasizes services, APIs, data models, and data processing workflows while delivering end-to-end features. You will collaborate with the Software Engineering Lead and cross-functional teams of scientists, product, and operations, owning outcomes and shaping technical direction.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, building, and operating backend systems in production.
• Strong production experience with TypeScript, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience designing APIs, relational data models, and data processing workflows.
• Experience building frontend features with React or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of cloud deployment (AWS or GCP) and observability practices.
• Ability to balance delivery speed with reliability and maintainability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in a small cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services, APIs, data models, and data processing workflows.
• Build and maintain frontend features and user interfaces across the stack.
• Own product and engineering problems from discovery through deployment and iteration.
• Collaborate with scientists, product, and operations to understand workflows and needs.
• Identify requirements and edge cases; translate them into technical approaches.
• Contribute proposals to design discussions and refine solutions with the team.
• Shape system architecture with the Software Engineering Lead as requirements evolve.
• Transform documents, lab results, field data, and operational data into structured outputs.
• Integrate AI capabilities such as document extraction and retrieval into product features.
• Write clean, tested code and perform thoughtful code reviews.
• Balance speed with long-term codebase health and reliability.
