Job summary

Heartflow, Inc. in San Francisco seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and build architecture and data models for a next-gen distributed system that securely integrates Heartflow’s cloud services with hospital EHRs.

You will own mission-critical components in the interoperability domain, mentor juniors, drive architectural decisions, and ensure scalable, compliant data flows under FDA/regulatory guidance. Proficiency with REST, FHIR/HL7, and cloud-native microservices is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience and system design expertise.
• Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR/HL7) and EHR systems.
• Proven ability to model data and architect scalable persistence layers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build EHR integration between on-premise hospital systems and cloud services.
• Contribute to single platform vision with data modeling and persistence strategies.
• Own data pipelines for secure extraction and normalization of patient data.
• Build secure RESTful APIs connecting on-premise components to cloud infrastructure.
• Support regulatory compliance and security best practices (FDA guidance).
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to system design discussions.
