Job summary

Heartflow, a medical technology company in San Francisco, seeks a Systems Engineer III to own its research data pipeline. You will generate data to enable algorithm and product research by partnering with Data Scientists, Research Scientists, and engineering teams to plan, annotate, and analyze campaigns.

Trustworthy data is central to our work; you will ensure dataset quality, reproducibility, and documentation to support future algorithm development and product decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in research, systems engineering, or a related field, ideally in medical imaging, medical devices, or another regulated domain.
• Proven ability to translate complex projects into executable programs and drive them from planning through delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own data campaigns for research from ideation to delivery.
• Define labeling objectives, annotation schemas, sample selection and acceptance criteria with stakeholders.
• Oversee end-to-end annotation workflow, tooling, and data delivery.
• Monitor data quality and reproducibility across campaigns.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Research Scientists, and cross-functional teams to produce usable datasets and reports.
• Translate research initiatives into clear data requirements and campaign plans.
