Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in the Security Platform Engineering group to lead cryptographic infrastructure for high-availability, zero-trust systems.

You will oversee PKI lifecycle, certificate authorities, and secure key handling with HSMs or cloud KMS, collaborating with internal and external partners. You will mentor senior engineers, shape technical strategy across multiple quarters, and drive alignments with Security, Product, and Policy to ensure flawless

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering in highly available distributed systems.
• Deep PKI and cryptography expertise, operating certificate authorities and PKI lifecycle management.
• Experience in Goland, Java, C++, or Rust, with Golang emphasis.
• Proven track record in Tier-0 or critical infrastructure with low latency requirements.
• Experience leading technical strategy and architecture for large-scale projects in regulated environments.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and execution of cryptographic infrastructure.
• Define long-term technical strategies amidst ambiguous requirements for cryptographic solutions.
• Own ambitious initiatives, implementing secure cryptographic protocols in a zero-trust environment.
• Mentor engineers, enforce rigorous code reviews, and remove single points of failure.
• Coordinate with Security, Product, and Policy to drive flawless execution.
