Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Security Platform Engineering group to drive cryptographic initiatives and PKI-based services that underpin all Coinbase systems.

You will lead the development of high-availability cryptographic infrastructure, mentor peers, and align cross-functional partners to deliver secure, scalable solutions in a zero-trust environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with highly available distributed systems.
• Deep PKI and cryptography expertise, including X.509 lifecycles and HSMs or cloud KMS.
• Proficiency in systems languages: Golang, Java, C++, or Rust; Golang preferred.
• Experience operating Tier-0 or critical infrastructure with low latency and high security.
• Proven experience directing technical strategy, architecture, and large-scale deliverables.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and execution of cryptographic infrastructure.
• Define multi-quarter technical strategies for novel crypto solutions.
• Own ambitious initiatives and implement secure protocols in a zero-trust environment.
• Mentor engineers, drive rigorous code reviews, and eliminate single points of failure.
• Coordinate with Security, Product, and Policy to ensure flawless execution.
