Alpaca is a US-headquartered, global leader in agent-first brokerage infrastructure for stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, fixed income, 24/5 trading, and more. As a senior software engineer, you will help build and scale the systems and services that form the foundation of Alpaca and empower millions of users trading billions of dollars daily.

The payments team is responsible for building and maintaining a modern global payments and treasury platform.

Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving ability and proactive mindset.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Preference for simple, elegant solutions.
• 3+ years of experience building systems at scale.
• Proven experience with microservices and client-facing APIs.
• Strong Go coding skills and maintainable, well-tested code.
• Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven design.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and messaging queues.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and distributed systems design.
• Knowledge of payment rails and financial ledgers.

Responsibilities
