Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a senior software engineer to help build and scale the payments and treasury platform that powers billions of dollars in daily trades. You will design scalable, event-driven services, own critical components, and work with a distributed global team.

We value deep fundamentals in distributed systems and domain-driven design, with strong Go coding skills and a focus on reliability, testing, and maintainability. Remote-friendly, NYC presence preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience building scalable systems.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining microservices.
• Experience with client-facing APIs and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong Go programming skills and ability to write clean, testable code.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and messaging systems.
• Understanding of payment rails and financial ledgers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale systems and services for Alpaca's payments and treasury platform.
• Design and implement scalable, event-driven architectures.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, reliable services.
• Maintain code quality with testing, monitoring, and incident readiness.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical roadmap.
