Job summary

People Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer 1 for Picksy Services to own design and implementation of scalable, reliable services.

You’ll mentor engineers, shape technical direction, and collaborate with product owners, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into world-class features. You'll design new services, APIs, and monitoring, own production services end-to-end, lead code reviews, reduce technical debt, and document architectures.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
6+ years of professional technology experience.
Strong understanding of REST and service-oriented architectures.
Production services experience on AWS or GCP with containers and CI/CD.
Proficient in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS; some GraphQL experience.
Frontend familiarity: HTML/CSS and Vue or Nuxt; NoSQL/Elasticsearch knowledge.

Responsibilities

Own solution design and implementation for scalable, highly available services.
Mentor engineers and drive architectural direction.
Collaborate with product owners, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into features.
Design new services, APIs, and monitoring; improve reliability and cost.
Lead code reviews and drive best practices across the team.
Document architectures and share governance across teams.
Identify and address technical debt and performance bottlenecks.
