Job summary

Penn Veterinary Supply is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain its B2B eCommerce platform. You will be instrumental in advancing digital and eCommerce goals, shaping the customer experience, and delivering scalable web applications.

The role supports remote, hybrid, or onsite work arrangements, with home-office space and Penn Vet equipment provided. Strong Java, web tech, and security fundamentals are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, or related field with 5+ years of experience in Java, REST APIs, and web development.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and SQL databases (DB2, Postgres).
• Experience administering Linux environments and IBM WebSphere/Open Digital Experience.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with stakeholders, developers, and other teams to translate requirements into technical deliverables.
• Designs and implements scalable, responsive, and user-friendly web applications with a focus on front-end and back-end development.
• Develops well-structured and efficient code ensuring high performance and maintainability.
• Creates and maintains databases, APIs and server-side functionalities to support dataflow and functionality.
• Ensures the security and integrity of web applications through best practices.
• Analyzes, supports, maintains, refactors, and modernizes legacy code.
• Participates in code reviews to maintain quality and consistency across the team.
• Completes other related duties as assigned.
