Penn Veterinary Supply Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain our B2B ecommerce website. This role shapes digital and ecommerce goals, influencing the brand and customer experience with both front-end and back-end work.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Java, REST, and web development experience, plus Linux and server deployment knowledge. Remote, hybrid, or onsite options are available with Penn Vet equipment provided for home offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or related field with 5+ years of experience in core Java, REST APIs and Java EE.
• Experience with Linux environments and application servers like WebSphere or OpenLiberty.
• Proficiency with front-end basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and SQL (DB2/PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with Git, Maven, and IDEs such as Eclipse or IntelliJ.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with stakeholders and teams to translate requirements into technical deliverables.
• Designs scalable, responsive web applications with strong front-end and back-end focus.
• Develops efficient code and maintains databases, APIs, and server-side features.
• Ensures security practices for authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Maintains and modernizes legacy code and participates in code reviews.
• Performs other related duties as assigned within the ecommerce ecosystem.
• Wears a customer-focused mindset to improve brand experience and performance.
