Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable software for Higher Education Digital products. You will lead modernization efforts, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations to improve quality and velocity.

You will own complex initiatives, promote CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, observability, and cloud-native architectures, applying AI-assisted tooling to boost reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience leading complex initiatives across multiple teams and delivering cloud-native solutions.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python).
• Strong background in microservices, RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with AWS, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise-scale software applications and services.
• Lead complex technical initiatives spanning multiple systems, services, and teams.
• Influence architecture and design discussions with technical recommendations.
• Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and solution quality.
• Provide technical leadership through code/design reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
