The Public Interest Company is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the core systems for claims identification, case management, and recovery workflows.

This high-ownership role involves architecting production systems, integrating AI workflows, and collaborating with product, engineering, and data science teams to deliver secure, resilient platforms using Python and TypeScript on AWS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience in backend or full-stack roles.
• Strong Python skills with FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Experience running production systems in AWS.
• Familiar with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Ability to design secure, reliable systems in fast-paced startups.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with product teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services, APIs, and orchestration workflows.
• Build scalable systems interfacing with AI/ML models and healthcare data.
• Develop durable, fault-tolerant workflows using Temporal.
• Write clean, high-performance Python and TypeScript code (FastAPI, Next.js).
• Maintain AWS cloud infrastructure with ECS, RDS, Redis, and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate needs into solutions.
• Uphold engineering best practices: tests, docs, version control, code reviews.
• Explore new tech to improve reliability and efficiency while staying simple.
