Job summary

The Public Interest Company is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the core systems powering claims identification, case management, and recovery workflows. You will work across product, engineering, and data science to deliver secure, resilient platforms.

This role focuses on production-grade backend systems, AI integration, and scalable cloud infrastructure, with an emphasis on reliability and maintainability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, backend or full-stack preferred.
• Strong Python proficiency with modern web frameworks (FastAPI/Django/Flask).
• Experience building production systems in AWS or cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design backend services, APIs, and workflows for claim identification and routing.
• Build scalable systems interfacing with AI/ML models and large healthcare data.
• Develop durable workflows using Temporal and related tooling.
• Write clean, high-performance Python (FastAPI) and TypeScript (Next.js) code.
• Maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS (ECS, RDS).
• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate needs into tech solutions.
• Adhere to engineering best practices: tests, docs, version control, reviews.
• Explore new tech to improve reliability and efficiency while keeping simplicity.
