Job summary

Citizens Financial Group, Inc. in Johnston, RI seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement technology solutions aligned with mission-driven goals.

You will translate business objectives into technical requirements in an Agile environment, contributing to scalable and maintainable distributed services. The role requires 3+ years in senior engineering roles with Java/J2EE, Spring, and RESTful services, plus extensive experience with databases, ORM, and common dev tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as Senior Software Engineer, Consultant - Engineering, or related position involving designing and developing web applications.
• 3 years of experience with JAVA-J2EE and Web Services using microservice & monolith architecture; Spring & Spring Boot; Node JS; Angular; HTML, CSS, jQuery and AJAX.
• Databases: Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Cassandra, TimesTen; ORM: Hibernate, Sequelize; REST: JAX-RS (Jersey); Tools: Eclipse, IntelliJ, VSCode, Azure Management Studio, Squirrel, Toad, HP QC, Gerrit, Crucible, Datadog; Testing: JUnit, Mockito, TestNG, Jasmine; Architecture: SOLID; Build: Ant, Maven; API: YAML; Logging: Log4j; Atlassian: JIRA, Crucible, Bitbucket; Version control: Git, SVN, VSS, JIRA, ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

• Designs, modifies, develops, and implements technology solutions meeting strategic business goals.
• Translates business objectives into technical requirements with product owners.
• Adheres to Agile practices and collaborates effectively with teammates.
• Incorporates scalability, maintainability, and performance in distributed service-based frameworks.
• Contributes design insights maintaining alignment with consumer-facing product goals.
• Documents best practices for team collaboration, estimations, architecture, design and documentation.
