Job summary

KBR is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software for multiple contracts across the SATCOM domain. The role spans UI, backend services, and data integration, with emphasis on reliability in austere environments.

Responsibilities include building responsive interfaces with React/TypeScript, implementing backend services in GoLang/Java/Python, and ensuring cross-system compatibility. Strong communication and collaborative skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience with TypeScript/JavaScript
• Proven track record building production React applications
• Experience designing backend services and APIs with GoLang or similar
• Experience with MongoDB/SQLite or similar databases
• Ability to work across frontend, backend, data, and deployment concerns
• Proficient in writing maintainable, tested production code
• Strong software architecture, API design, and diagnostics knowledge
• Ability to troubleshoot complex problems across services and runtimes
• Excellent written and verbal communication and independent work style

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software improvements for a fast-paced SATCOM project
• Triage defects and design improvements for global SATCOM ground systems
• Develop responsive UI using React/TypeScript/JavaScript
• Extend open architecture framework for cross-system compatibility
• Build backend APIs and services using GoLang/Java/C#/Python
• Integrate real-time data from tracking, sensors, comms, and environment systems
• Design data flows for real-time and historical geospatial data
• Work with MongoDB and SQLite databases
• Create automated tests and enforce quality gates
• Collaborate with product owners and engineers to translate needs into software
