Job summary

Raytheon’s EW Software team in Goleta, CA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Real-time Embedded to design, develop and test real-time embedded software for advanced hardware platforms.

The role involves collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, contributing to architecture and design, and supporting lab and field testing while maintaining security clearances and high standards of excellence.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in software design, integration and test using C/C++.
  • Experience with embedded microprocessor design, SoC software, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR and flash memories.
  • Experience developing real-time applications on embedded platforms (bare metal, embedded Linux, Windows).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-disciplinary product teams using agile methods to plan, specify, design, test and integrate complex software and systems.
  • Innovate with architectures and designs from development through lab and field testing.
  • Collaborate with systems, firmware, electrical and software engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Develop software requirements and FPGA interface requirements from system specifications; run simulations and lab tests.
  • Work in an advanced product development environment with systems and hardware engineering.

Raytheon’s Electronic Warfare (EW) Software development team is looking to hire experienced Senior Software Engineer, Real-time Embedded to work on real-time embedded products.

What You Will Do:
  • Participate in collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams, often employing agile system and software development operations to plan, specify, design, test, and integrate complex software and systems solutions.
  • Responsibilities include innovating creative implementations of new products and technologies, from architecture and design, through integration, lab test and field test.
  • Collaborating effectively with other disciplines and senior technical staff, in addition to producing planning and technical work products for internal customers to form original solutions to complex problems.
  • Developing software requirements and FPGA level interface requirements derived from system level requirements, developing associated architectures, performing simulations and analysis and testing of the software in a laboratory setting.
  • Work in an advanced product development team environment with systems, firmware, electrical and software engineers.
  • Handle fast pace and dynamic product development environment including engagement with Systems and Electrical Engineers
  • This position will require occasional business-related travel.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) AND a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in software design, integration and test utilizing C / C++.
  • Experience with embedded microprocessor design, system on a chip software design, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR, flash memories, block diagrams, signal analyses or signal generation.
  • Experience developing real-time applications on embedded platforms, including bare metal (no-OS), embedded Linux, or Windows environments.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Current transferable DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Electronic Warfare Electronic Attack/Electronic Support (EA/ES), Radar, or Secure Communications technology knowledge.
  • Experience with .NET C# using WPF and MVVM.
  • Tool familiarity: Visual Studio, Vitis, TortoiseSVN, Jenkins, Jira, Collaborator.
  • Lab experience in product testing using logic analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and system on chip debugging tools.
  • Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as: VME, PCI, PCIe, VPX, or Gb Ethernet.
  • Experience across all phases of software lifecycle from architecture to system integration, and post-delivery maintenance.
  • Experience with software algorithm development, and machine learning.
  • Experienced in Agile development processes.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
