Job summary

RemoteHunter seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Promotions to build scalable services powering marketing promotions within a North American gaming platform.

You will design GraphQL APIs, optimize performance, and guide on-call and release practices. The role involves mentoring engineers and delivering features in an agile setting.

Qualifications

1. About Our Client:

The company utilizes proprietary in-house technology to power its omnichannel gaming platforms, aiming to deliver desired experiences through multiple channels including online sportsbooks and media apps.

2. About the Opportunity:

The Senior Software Engineer, Promotions is a key role focused on developing and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports promotional capabilities within the gaming platform. This position contributes by designing scalable, high-performance services that enable marketing teams to deliver engaging offers and improve user experiences. The role involves problem-solving complex technical challenges and ensuring the reliability and scalability of promotion-related systems.

3. Responsibilities:

• Design and optimize GraphQL APIs, gRPC services, and SQL queries for the promotions engine
• Address high-complexity technical problems and present solutions to leadership and partners
• Architect and deliver new features in an agile environment
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks to enhance scalability
• Configure monitoring and alerting systems for owned services
• Mentor engineers through specifications, pairing, and code reviews
• Perform additional related duties as required

4. Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience
• Strong foundation in computer science including data structures, distributed systems, and algorithms
• Experience with production systems at scale and performance optimization
• Background in managing on-call rotations and release cycles
• Proficiency in clean code architecture and software craftsmanship
• Excellent communication skills and documentation experience
• Experience with modern web frameworks and API development (e.g., Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, Fast API, Laravel, Node)
• At least 2 years designing GraphQL schemas for multiple client platforms
• Experience with multi-client and geo-based routing platforms
• Proficient with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Comfortable with terminal, Git, GitHub, and code editors
• Experience with testing frameworks (ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent)
• Experience with background job processing systems (Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, Beanstalk)
• Experience with asynchronous event handling infrastructure (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, Google Cloud Pub/Sub)

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Salary range: $145,000—$193,000 USD
• Competitive compensation package based on experience and skills
