Job summary

Tempus is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale high-quality software systems. You’ll work across the stack on the de-identification pipelines that turn clinical and molecular data into research-ready datasets, while protecting patient privacy and preserving analytic utility.

You’ll partner with teams across engineering and science to deliver robust, scalable features, mentor teammates, and help drive architecture and design decisions in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Qualifications

• A few years of experience on software development teams and ability to lead in technical analysis & design.
• Experience with distributed, event-based architecture and agile environments.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and coordinate cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver projects in service of quarterly goals of the team.
• Navigate ambiguity and remain resilient through ups and downs.
• Work collaboratively with leadership to set ambitious goals, breaking those goals down to smaller projects for the team to execute on.
• Support the growth of teammates by taking into account their skills, background and workstyles.
• Give constructive feedback, coaching rather than blaming, and commit when necessary.
• Write code that captures the essential nature of the solution and is flexible, reusable, and efficient.
• Proactively identify issues with technical dependencies owned by other teams and surface them.
