Job summary

Tempus is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale high-quality software systems. You’ll work across the stack on the de-identification pipelines that turn clinical and molecular data into research-ready datasets, while protecting patient privacy and preserving analytic utility.

You’ll partner with teams across engineering and science to deliver robust, scalable features, mentor teammates, and help drive architecture and design decisions in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Qualifications

• A few years of experience on software development teams and ability to lead in technical analysis & design.
• Experience with distributed, event-based architecture and agile environments.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and coordinate cross-team collaboration.

• Own and deliver projects in service of quarterly goals of the team.
• Navigate ambiguity and remain resilient through ups and downs.
• Work collaboratively with leadership to set ambitious goals, breaking those goals down to smaller projects for the team to execute on.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale high-quality software systems at Tempus. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can work across the stack, contribute to architecture and design, improve engineering quality, and collaborate effectively across teams to deliver reliable products and services. Come help our team build the de-identification systems behind Tempus, which turn identified clinical, molecular, and other patient data into research-ready datasets. You'll design and scale the data pipelines and event-driven services that protect patient privacy while preserving the data's analytic utility for precision medicine research.

• You've got a few years of experience working on software development teams, and can help lead in technical analysis & design, evaluating tradeoffs, and establishing best practices
• You love exploring hard problems and solving them with data-driven, iterative software development

• You've worked in fast-paced, agile environments and helped keep projects on track, troubleshoot roadblocks, write documentation, and coordinate cross-team collaboration

CHI: $110,000-$160,000 NYC: $125,000-$175,000 The expected salary range may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience.
