Job summary

Kunai Co. seeks a Senior Software Engineer to advance a high-impact digital payments modernization program. You will build backend services in Java, run on OpenShift, with PostgreSQL, and drive secure identity architecture using OAuth2/OIDC (Okta).

You will integrate with card networks, design event-driven patterns (Kafka), and contribute to frontend convergence using modern frameworks. The role is hands-on, cross-functional, and pivotal for enterprise-scale systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, Java-focused.
• Relational DB experience with Oracle/PostgreSQL; PostgreSQL Aurora a strong plus.
• Experience deploying in containerized environments (OpenShift/Kubernetes).
• Spring Boot/JPA, business rules engines (Drools), and integration/orchestration (Camel).
• OAuth2/OIDC identities and provider integration (Okta).
• Knowledge of cloud IAM, storage, and CDN architectures (AWS).

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Java with PostgreSQL and OpenShift.
• Design and own integrations and data workflows (Apache Camel).
• Build and harden microservice architecture for card-network integration.
• Lead CI/CD with automated testing, and performance improvements.
• Own OAuth2/OIDC identity architecture and Okta integration.
• Collaborate across teams on architecture and data security.
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
