We are now building a brand-new Payments Team within Servicing — and we’re hiring the founding engineers.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our new Payments Team and help build the systems that move millions of dollars every day. In this role, you will design and build the features that guide borrowers from origination through final payment — ensuring accuracy, transparency, and simplicity at every step.

You will work across the stack, own critical integrations, and set engineering standards for correctness, observability, and reliability. This is a high-impact area where the quality of your engineering directly affects revenue, losses, and customer trust.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build full-stack features including new payment workflows and borrower-facing experiences.
• Own integrations with payment processors and infrastructure partners.
• Establish engineering standards for idempotency, correctness, observability, and reliability.
• Lead cross-functional delivery with Product, Analytics, and Operations.
• Drive architectural decisions for workflow engines, exactly-once semantics, and payment platform abstraction.
• Write clean, extensible APIs in a microservices environment.

How the Role Will Grow

Become the go-to expert on payment rails, NACHA rules, ACH return codes, card processing, and operational excellence. Lead multi-team initiatives.

Own the payment platform abstraction layer, define boundaries, set the standards for workflow orchestration, idempotency, and exactly-once behavior.

Who You Are

• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• Full-stack engineer (roughly 50/50 or 70/30 backend-leaning).
• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails, React, Next.js, Vercel, and Postgres.
• Product-focused engineer who leads projects end-to-end.
• Experienced collaborating with technical and non-technical partners.
• Skilled in writing clean APIs and building in a microservices environment.
• Payments knowledge is highly valuable: ACH, NACHA, debit/credit rails, webhooks, ledgers, idempotency, retries, refunds, reconciliations.
