Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Sr Software Development Engineer for the Leo OISL program in Los Angeles area. You will architect and implement software for ground-based optical terminals, spanning embedded control, networking, and cloud infrastructure.

You will own end-to-end delivery from requirements to operations on a globally distributed fleet. The role requires deep experience across C/C++, Python or Rust, Linux, and AWS cloud services, with a track record in designing scalable, fault-tolerant systems

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development without internship
• 5+ years programming in at least one language
• 5+ years leading design or architecture of systems
• Experience mentoring or leading an engineering team
• Experience with networking fundamentals and Internet protocols
• Experience in C, C++, Python, or Rust; Linux systems programming
• Experience with AWS or cloud services including compute, storage, networking, monitoring

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop software for ground-based optical terminals including embedded control, networking, and cloud infra
• Design and implement remote management systems for distributed ground deployments
• Develop high-throughput networking solutions and integrate with network infrastructure
• Build cloud-based operations platforms for fleet management, telemetry, and monitoring
• Define IaC for automated deployment and scaling of ground systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across optics, electrical, firmware, and mechanical
• Define system architecture, interfaces, and protocols for subsystems
• Deliver fault-tolerant, highly available systems capable of autonomous operation
• Own full lifecycle delivery from requirements through deployment and operations
